Also He has been cited as an outstanding physician by local hospitals and local media outlets.  His professional interest include sports medicine, adult and pediatric reconstructive surgery, dermatology, and podiatric imagining.

About Dr. Donald Powell:

Dr. Donald R. Powell is originally from southeastern Georgia, where he grew up in the Savannah area. He received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Georgia Southern University and his doctorate from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine. From there, he completed his residency at Dekalb Medical, in Decatur, Georgia, where he was trained by the top foot and ankle surgeons known throughout the world. While in Atlanta, he received extensive training in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery and diabetic limb salvage.

Dr. Powell is currently a member of the teaching and research faculty at The Podiatry Institute, an internationally recognized teaching foundation for reconstructive foot and ankle surgery. He has lectured and continues to lecture all over the United States. He is an author and co-author in the last eight editions of the Podiatry Institute’s annual “Reconstructive Foot and Ankle Surgery Update,” as well as a contributing author to the new edition of McGlamry’s Comprehensive Foot & Ankle textbook.

In addition to his numerous publications, Dr. Powell has also contributed as a member with Healing the Children, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the treatment of children in El Salvador and other developing countries. He is also an active member of the Red Shoe Society, a chapter under the Ronald McDonald House in Decatur, Georgia.

Dr. Powell has participated in multiple triathlons, races, and obstacle courses. He has a personal interest in many of the injuries that can be associated with marathon runners and athletes.

Dr. Powell is currently on staff at many of the local hospitals and sees patients in three locations; Decatur, Paiedmont/Buckhead and at Emory Midtown. He is licensed in Georgia and is in good standing with the American Podiatric Medical Association.

His current hospital affiliations are Piedmont Atlanta, Dekalb Medical and Emory Midtown.
