Pediatric Foot Care
Children experience many of the same problems as adults, such as ingrown toenails, warts, and even heel pain. More importantly though, is that the maturing foot is very important in the overall development of the child. As children grow, any limitations in the development of their feet can have long term affects on the rest of their life. Many abnormalities of the growing foot, if caught early enough, can be corrected. Serial casting, custom shoe inserts, and bracing are all available options that can be used to treat a variety of pediatric foot deformities.
In some cases, surgery is necessary to relieve painful symptoms and improve foot function. The surgical procedure or combination of procedures selected for your child will depend on his or her particular type of foot and degree of deformity. Our podiatrist can perform a variety of techniques to treat the different types of pediatric flatfoot, clubfeet, bunions, and various other muscle deformities.
