The Ankle & Foot Centers of Georgia is a long-established group of Board Certified podiatric physicians who are highly-skilled innovators in the field of foot and ankle medicine.

Founded in 1982 on the principles of technical excellence and personal concern for our patients' health and well-being, our doctors strive to provide you with latest available treatment options from conservative care to surgical intervention. Dr. Joseph Giovinco founded the Ankle and Foot Centers of Georgia in 1982 and opened his first office in Peachtree City. Through the years, the practice has grown to now encompass 10 physicians in 11 clinic locations with more than 100 support staff. In 2008, Ankle & Foot Centers of Georgia and Piedmont Podiatry merged to increase their presence in serving the metro Atlanta area.

The International Center for Foot and Ankle Surgery

Founded in 2006, The International Center for Foot and Ankle Surgery is the premier ambulatory surgical center for foot and ankle surgery in Atlanta. With the most advanced technology and up-to-date facilities, the center prides itself on the highest level of efficiency that provides for a faster and more comfortable experience.

Located at this site is our Lower Extremity open MRI unit, our Diabetic Store, physical therapay, our conference/educational suite, as well as our Financial Services Department. The International Institute for Foot and Ankle Surgery

From August 2^nd to the 9^th of 2008, the International Institute for Foot and Ankle Surgery (IIFAS) embarked on what is now the 4th successful annual medical mission to El Salvador. Headed by Dr. Joseph D. Giovinco DPM FACFAS and Dr. Chris Menke DPM, the Atlanta, Georgia based non-profit organization offered citizens of this Central American nation the same standard of podiatric medical care as their United States counterparts. Watch the official video from the IIFAS 2008 mission!
 
Equipped with over $25,000 worth of corporate and privately donated medical hardware and supplies, this eight day podiatric campaign effectively treated over 100 patients in a clinical and surgical setting. Although the vast majority of these patients made the pilgrimage to the campaign's base of operations at the Hospital of Nueva Guadalupe, excursions to rural mountain villages provided the team with an opportunity to offer in-home visits to some of El Salvador's more financially burdened citizens. 
 
For the trip, after initial treatment and screening, a typical days' work thereafter consisted of morning surgical rounds, followed by serial castings, clubfoot operations and reconstructive surgeries of the foot and leg.  Rather than simply providing transient relief from these podiatric ailments, the central mission of the IIFAS is to not only deliver high quality podiatric surgical care to the impoverished, but to empower indigenous health care providers to continue to offer that same level of care themselves by means of training and education.

 
This continuing effort is made possible by both the local ancillary services offered by the hospital of Nueva Guadalupe, as well as the overwhelming support of local residents and hospital staff.  In addition to volunteer translation service and medical assistance, these local citizens also provide travel and housing arrangements to the campaigns members.  This integration and cooperation with the native cultural community remains an important touchstone of what the IIFAS aspires to offer.
